Produce Of A Nation
America is engulfed in an age of self inflicted tragedy. The VA Tech shooting of April 16th was the forty second such event that has occurred in the last ten years.
In 1997, Luke Woodham shot and killed two students and wounded seven others. Earlier that day he had stabbed his mother to death.
This past October, a man took hostage all of the female students of a school here in Lancaster county, then shot them execution style. Five were killed, six others seriously wounded.
Why do these things happen? The world blames slack gun control, chemical imbalance, psychosis, problematic childhood, etc., but God says that our problem is the wicked heart of mankind.
As a nation, we only compound the problem by desensitizing our children to the awfulness of plunder and murder, through media, music and video games. Young people can practice their vile fantasies on screen before they carry them out in real life.
Our society is motivated by greed. Is there any wonder that our children are absorbed in self, with no thought for the needs of others?
We have become an entertainment oriented society. We loan our conscious minds to the ungodly men who determine what constitutes “entertainment” in our country.
Our nation is without moral restraint. We can do anything we want, anytime we want, anywhere we want, and all under the guise of “human rights.”
Relativism has become the dominant philosophy of our time. Right and wrong are determined by the individual on the fly. And what is right for you may not be right for me at any given time.
The solution is quite simple, but am I willing to take part? I need to stop putting me first, stop living after the philosophies of the world, stop feeding my fleshly, sinful desires, and stop passing up opportunities to share Christ with others. I need to start reading my Bible as if my life depended upon it, because it does, and start demonstrating the character of Christ in my walk.
God help me to make a difference.
