It’s A Gift

Someone once said, “The best things in life are free.” The longer I live, the more I am inclined to believe it. Consider the worth of a child’s smile and tender greeting, “Daddy.” Just think of the pleasure afforded you by the senses of taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing, all of which come as standard equipment with your “fearfully and wonderfully made” body. These priceless treasures, and more, are gifts from our wonderful Creator God. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17).”

Though it may be hard to wrest our attention from the temporal treasures enjoyed in the here and now, one could be even more dogmatic in proclaiming, “the best things are free” in the eternal, spiritual realm. For example, God offers the priceless treasure of eternal life in His presence, and insists that we call Him “Daddy” (“Abba” Romans 8:15; Gal. 4:6). He has promised us glorified bodies that will never grow old, or be plagued by disease and weakness. We are offered citizenship in heaven where there is no death, crime, sorrow or crying, and don’t forget, it is all absolutely free.

You might be interested to know that all of the wonderful eternal things that God has made available to you come as a package. The package is indeed free, but it is not cheap; it cost Jesus Christ, God’s Son, His very life’s blood. God knew that if man could be allowed to do anything, it would become the object of his boasting (1Corinthians 1:27-29, Ephesians 2:8-9), therefore, IT’S A GIFT. But as with any gift, this eternal package must be received. “But as many as received him (Jesus Christ), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12).”

All that God offers is contained in the person of Jesus Christ. Receive Him today; He is waiting for you!
