“Just The Facts...”
God created us in His own image and for His own pleasure.
- So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis 1:27).
- ... all things were created by him, and for him: (Colossians 1:16b).
He created us with eternal souls. Even when our bodies lie silent in the grave, our souls will go on living.
- And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7).
Soon after the creation, Adam (the first man) sinned, and God’s fellowship with mankind was severed.
- For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23).
- Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Romans 5:12).
In the Bible, this separation from God is called spiritual death.
- For the wages of sin is death... (Romans 6:23a).
- Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (James 1:15).
In order for us to be restored to God, the price of forgiveness must be paid.
- ... without shedding of blood is no remission (forgiveness). (Hebrew 9:22b).
Because we are spiritually bankrupt, we cannot pay our debt.
- But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags...
(Isaiah 64:6a).
- There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (Rom. 3:11-12).
Willingly, God sent His only Son to die for our sins.
- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).
- But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8).For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1Corinthians 15:3-4).
Jesus lives to offer forgiveness and eternal life freely to anyone who will receive it by faith.
- For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9).
I have accepted His gift of life, and know that my sins are forgiven. In my heart I have the peace and joy that His salvation brings. You can have it too!
- But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:12).
- ... behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (2Corinthians 6:2).
