The Battle Is The Lord’s
Serious servants of the Lord understand the realities of Christian warfare and are loyal soldiers of the cross. “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. (2Tim. 2.4).” If you are a serious soldier, you probably enjoy being reminded occasionally that “The Battle Is The Lord’s.”
Generally speaking, when men fight battles, the commanding officers don’t lead their soldiers into battle. Not so with our God. For example, Jonathan said to his armor bearer in 1Samuel 14:6, “...it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.”
David spoke to the giant Goliath in 1Samuel 17:46-47, “This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee... for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.”
Perhaps the greatest example is found in the biblical account of the wilderness wonderings, where time and again it became obvious that the battle was the Lord’s.
In Ex. 13-14 Israel had just been delivered from their 430 year bondage in Egypt, and God had led them out into the wilderness toward the “land of promise.” The Bible declared that He went before them in a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night. The purpose for His manifested presence becomes obvious as we read the text. He wanted to maintain a high morale (Ex. 13:17-18), provide reassurance and guidance (Exodus 13:20-22), and to protect them from their enemies (Exodus 14:10-14).
What our Lord did for His people Israel, He has promised to do for us, in these last days.
Our Lord is out front leading the way; He is behind guarding our backs. Our Lord has secured the victory for His army, over Death, the World, the Flesh, the Devil. Want to enlist? Give us a call.
